Caras & Shulman has a unique career opportunity for an Operations Manager to join our team. The role is part human resources manager, part technology manager, and part business operations manager for a public accounting firm.

Responsibilities

The Operations Manager works directly with the firm’s partners on all aspects of firm administration and practice management including:

  • Operations: Management and direction of a team of 3-4 operations associates responsible for the development and execution of internal business processes including new client onboarding, project management and tracking, processing of financial statements, tax returns and other client deliverables, billing and accounts receivable.
  • Human Resources: Responsible for salary and benefits administration, workers’ compensation, personnel data systems and job design for all professional and support staff. Assist with recruiting, hiring/terminations and staff evaluations for all firm personnel.
  • Systems and Information Technology: Works closely with the IT Manager (vendor) to direct the evaluation and enhancement of existing and future computer and telecommunications hardware and software systems and equipment. Initiates and reviews recommendations for improvements in technology and information systems through the IT vendor. Oversees the formulation and implementation of disaster preparedness policy, including cybersecurity.
  • Marketing and Business Development: Works closely with the partners to recommend, develop, implement and monitor marketing and business development plans and initiatives; as well as maintain Firm website, newsletters and client mailings.

Requirements

  • Minimum five (5) years’ experience in management and administration in a professional services firm environment, with CPA firm experience preferred
  • Bachelors in Business Administration and/or MBA
  • Effective organizational, communications and interpersonal skills
  • Excellent problem-solver and team player with “firm first” attitude and mindset
  • Must work effectively with other motivated professionals in a challenging, fast-paced environment
